installation - Windows Vista wont install sp1

Don't ask why I'm running vista, but I just had my old XPS M1530 wiped and restored to Vista Home Premium. I've done diagnostics and am going to run a memory test but I would like to get it up to date. I can install all other updates from windows update center except for SP1. It downloads the update then sets the restore point and pops up a setup wizard, and I accept everything. But then the wizard closes and I'm left with WUC saying Update Complete. Any Ideas on what I can do to update my computer? All suggestions help, and my specs are below.

Windows Vista Home Premium

Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU T7500 @2.20GHz

3.00 GB RAM

32-bit Operating System

NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT
